Tying an Egg Sac

Ingredients

Netting
Eggs
String
Small scissors
Small sac float (optional, for floating egg sacs)
• Small lid (optional, a baby food lid works great)

Steps

  1. Place a 4 inch by 4 inch square of netting over the small lid (or flat on a table).

  2. Put your desired amount of eggs onto the center of the netting. The lid can be used as a pocket for the eggs to sit in, so they do not roll away.

  3. Optional: If you want your egg sac to float, add a small float to your pile of eggs and continue normally.

  4. Fold the corners in, towards each other to create a sac for the eggs.

  5. Pull the eggs down to the bottom of the sac as you pinch and twist the open end to close it. Twist the closure as tight as you prefer.

  6. Leaving about 4 inches of tag end, wrap the thread around the twisted closure clockwise 3 or 4 times and trim the extra from the spool. Wrap the loose tag end 3 or 4 times around the closure in the opposite direction and remove the excess thread.

  7. Use scissors to cut the extra netting off the top of the egg sac.
