Definition of hard bait
A hard bait is any lure made of hard material such as wood, plastic, metal, or composites to imitate baitfish or other forage. Hard baits are typically fished without additional baits or materials added, and are used primarily for trolling, jigging, and casting. They can be designed to sink, float ot dive at specific depths and speeds. The enticing movement of a hard bait is achieved with protruding lips at the front of the lures, allowing it to dive and dart, by the density and weight of the lure itself, and textures and features in the molded body.
